Yoga Therapy

“Yoga is a state of great steadiness at an emotional level; balance of concentration and detachment at a mental level, and homeostasis at a body level. It integrates the personality by bringing body-mind coordination in a well balanced way.”

– Dr Nagarthna, SVYASA

Most students enter a yoga class in the search of a fit and beautiful body; in the hands of a knowledgable and sensitive teacher, they may leave the class with a more relaxed body, and a regained balance of their emotions and mind. But yoga is so much more than that. Yoga offers proven methods to help re-establish balance in our systems, thus allowing our bodies to heal themselves by harnessing the inner wisdom of our cells.Yoga therapy is yoga applied to manage a specific disease or condition, and restore balance in an individual.

The centuries-old science of yoga propounds that invisible diseases (those that cannot be seen with the bare eyes) are the result of imbalances of the mind. Modern medicine is slowly arriving to this same conclusion, that stress-filled and unbalanced modern lifestyles are impacting on our health and well-being.

Yoga therapy can assist in a wide range of ailments and diseases, including amongst others:

  • Stress, anxiety and depression;
  • Back pain, sciatica, spondylitis, osteoporosis, and arthritis;
  • IBS, constipation, indigestion, ulcers, diabetes and obesity;
  • Common cold, asthma, sinusitis and hay fever;
  • Menstrual disorders, urogenital infections and disorders, prostate problems, kidney stones and prolapse;
  • Hypertension, varicose veins and circulatory disorders;
  • Thyroid disorders.
Yoga therapy has also been found to be useful in the management of cancer. If you would like to know more about how yoga therapy can help you, drop us an email.
