We will be hosting two, 50 hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training modules in 2020. These modules are offered as standalone trainings, and can be taken independently by anyone interested in furthering their understanding of Yin Yoga and meditation. Upon completion of either module, students will receive a certificate of training which is eligible for Continuing Education Credit (50 hrs) with the Yoga Alliance.
  • Foundations Module (50 hrs): Everything you need to know about the physical aspects of teaching and practicing Yin Yoga: Postures, sequencing, anatomy, fascia, functional vs. aesthetic alignment, and how to cue.
  • Mindfulness Module (50 hrs): A study and exploration of the inner-game of teaching and practicing meditation in Yin Yoga, with a uniquely Yin-based approach to meditation: Mindfulness, styles of Vipassana, Four Foundations of Mindfulness, and breath and beyond.

Meet Josh

E-RYT500, Lic. AC., Founder, Summers School of Yin Yoga

I am Yin Yoga teacher, a licensed acupuncturist, and a meditation instructor.I lead workshopstrainings, and retreats throughout the United States and Europe.I offer an unique perspective to the practice and education of Yin Yoga, in that I am a practicing acupuncturist of 15 years and a dedicated dharma practitioner for 20 years.

Yin Yoga is an inherently meditative approach to yoga that focuses on the connective tissues of the body. It helps to stimulate the energy flow of the meridians, which is a fundamental concept in acupuncture as well. Having an understanding of acupuncture, Yin Yoga and the dharma helps me add depth to my students’ practice.

Meet Terry

E-RYT500, Lead Trainer, Summers School of Yin Yoga

I have been teaching yoga since 2006 and in addition to my role as Lead Trainer at the Summers School of Yin Yoga, I am the owner of Freeport Yoga Company in Freeport, Maine. I am a marathon runner, a mother to two boys (and one yellow dog), and an outdoor adventure-seeker – and I try to balance an active, yang lifestyle with time on the meditation cushion and a contemplative yin practice.

Teaching:

I design my yang (vinyasa) classes to be strong and creative, with an emphasis on functional alignment. My yin classes are physically complementary, heavily influenced by insight meditation and Buddhist teachings. In addition to teaching public classes at my studio in Freeport, I offer specialty workshops, destination retreats and teach within 200-hour and 500-hour advanced yoga studies programs.
