Originally from Mobile, Alabama, I moved to San Francisco as a lawyer in 1999, where I found Rocket Yoga, and my teacher Larry Schultz. I was a bit of a lunatic back then, full of injuries, both emotional and physical! Larry used to call me the crippled twitcher! I felt transformed after my first class and was hooked. I trained as a teacher in January 2001, and havenât looked back (except for a brief stint as an electricianâs apprentice, no I am not kidding!).
I taught in San Francisco until one of my students asked me to teach in Tulum for âa couple of weeks,â in 2007. I stayed in Tulum a year, living in a hut on the Beach with a stray dog, teaching a new group of 28 each week. It was bliss! I might have stayed forever, but love found me, and I ended up following my heart to London in 2009.
My two gorgeous teenagers and I now live in the countryside, just outside the city. Thanks to Covid and zoom yoga I teach from home 6 days a week, and at Mission e-1, in East London three days a week. I lead workshops, teacher trainings, and small mentor groups for curious teachers.
I absolutely adore working with students of all levels. I love handstands, and arm balances, but also yin yoga, and savasana is mandatory. Yoga is not about practicing handstands, but about practicing happy.
