Lots of us have a regular morning or evening yoga practice – but have you tried squeezing some into your afternoon, too? There are lots of reasons to try out practicing yoga on your lunchbreak – and here are our top 5 :
The weather doesn’t matter!
It’s always nice to stretch our legs and get some fresh air on our break, but in Ireland the weather doesn’t always make that too appealing. Luckily, yoga is an awesome way to stretch your legs – and the rest of your body – indoors, rain or shine.
It makes you better at your job.
Seriously. Taking some time for yoga will help you refocus and come at your afternoon tasks with a new sense of mental clarity. Honestly, your boss should really be paying you to get your downward facing dog on in the office.
It improves your posture.
We’ve all been there. There’s nothing worse than hours slumped over our desk and computer for our shoulders and spine. A quick yoga break will give you a reset, a stretch, and hopefully help you to bring a new sense of awareness and mindfulness to your posture for the rest of the day.
You can make it social – if you want to!
If you have a co-worker you can practice with, a lunchtime yoga session can provide some much-needed socialising, and provide a meaningful connection. On the other hand, if your job is very social, it can provide some much-needed time to be alone and go inward. Just choose which would best serve you.
It helps you make more mindful food choices.
Once you’ve finished your yoga practice, you’ll feel so good that you’ll want to keep on doing things that make you feel good. When it comes to choosing your post-practice lunch, you’re more likely to choose something nourishing and substantial, rather than a quick energy fix that will leave you crashing before hometime.
And a bonus sixth reason? It’s a mood booster!
If you’re reading this, you probably already know – yoga makes you feel good! And surely feeling good is reason enough to give it a go 🙂
